Who's Serious?

The only full auto firearm I’ve ever had a serious yearning to own is the 9mm German MP40 of World War II fame. I even had a chance to shoot 50 rounds through one once, but never could see any sense in putting out the big bucks it would take to buy one. I’ve been told an original German issue one runs about $15K to $25K nowadays.

I’ve also been subject to very vivid dreams all my life and a few weeks ago I dreamed of buying an MP40; right down to the dealer it was coming from and its cost. A ridiculously low $6K; like I said it was a dream.

Anyway, just for fun the morning after that dream I surfed the Internet looking at MP40s, and happened upon an outfit selling full size MP40 BB guns. To be exact they were airsoft BB guns, which I had never heard of, but it appears that airsoft BB guns fire their 6mm pellets of some synthetic biodegradable material at only about 300 to 350 fps. That’s much lower than the 600 fps velocity of traditional BB guns with steel projectiles. I guess in some locales people arm themselves with airsoft BB guns and chase each other around sort of like paintball. I really don’t know anything about that.

In Duke’s gun culture when there’s
a break in a match’s action it’s a fine time to visit with one another.
