Random Thoughts

I hear this regularly: “I have a bad habit of” or “I guess that’s a bad habit of mine.” In actuality, I believe these aren’t “bad” habits — simply habits. The real question is as you learn more, will your opinion of your “habits” change? Are your “bad” habits actually bad, and if so, will you adapt to new training you receive — forming new habits in the process?

I think there are two different kinds of bad habit-people. First there are folks who simply lack intelligence or even the more important skill of reasoning. The stupid generally use the “my way or the highway” thought process. Since it has always been this way, or it the only way they know of, they have years of practice, blissfully uninhibited by progress.

Next are the people who are simply ignorant. The ignorant are easy to work with. When taught logical techniques, they can learn — and will improve through practice. With their open mindedness they receive instruction well.
